The Jaguar A91 arrived at the Bourget museum, almost discreetly.
Normally, its deposit in the collections would have taken on a festive feel - all the more so as the Air and Space Museum had been claiming this plane for twenty-three years.
Under the Covid-19 era, only thirty people, including the Secretary of State for the Armed Forces, were authorized to attend its unveiling, in the great Concorde hall.
Thanks to this new piece, the museum will be able to tell an episode of the first Gulf War, and more particularly of the first raid of Operation "Desert Storm".
On January 17, 1991, eight planes took off in the direction of Iraq.
Four are affected, including this A91 jaguar, then piloted by Captain Hummel.
"Hit by a missile, the engine on fire, the pilot will succeed in landing safe and sound on a Saudi base"
, tells the director of the museum, Anne Catherine Robert-Hauglustaine, pointing to the "stigmas" of the missile on the side of the device.
The plane will then be repatriated
