2021-02-24T16:01:23.121Z

In order to avoid crowds in front of bars and restaurants that sell take away, a decree prohibiting the consumption of alcohol

As in many streets in Paris, it is now forbidden to consume alcohol between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. near the Place de la Contrescarpe, in the 5th arrondissement.

A decision taken until March 7, to guarantee the necessary physical distancing and try to contain the Covid-19 epidemic.

Located not far from the Sorbonne universities and grandes écoles, this place was evacuated at the weekend by the police, because the crowd was too dense.

For students and residents of the neighborhood, the ban is sometimes puzzling.

“People will go to the streets, there will be more proximity between people.

I find that a little illogical, ”explains Agnès, a resident of the neighborhood who goes home with a pancake and a pint of blonde.

“We end up with an aggregation of people at Place de la Contrescarpe, because the offer is here.

But if several bars could offer this offer, we would end up with a much more fragmented population, ”said Clément, who had come to drink a cocktail with two friends on rue Mouffetard.
