Ilmira Bagautdinova dances on the frozen bay of Batareinaya in the Gulf of Finland, where a grain terminal is to be built.

It seeks to attract the attention of the authorities in order to save this beach from this construction project which could greatly impact the local fauna.

In these videos posted on Facebook, the ballerina performs a dance from Tchaikovsky's “Swan Lake”, a nod to the swans that inhabit the region.

“A unique natural and historical place where swans nest in spring, families with children rest in summer and hundreds of fishermen go out on the ice in winter… Nature in harmony with men.

All of this is threatened with destruction, ”Bagautdinova wrote on her Facebook page, inserting a link to a petition calling on President Vladimir Putin to abandon the idea of a port terminal on this beach.

The ballerina is among thousands of people who have spoken out against this construction project for grain shipments to Batareinaya Bay, a beach about 100 km west of Russia's second largest city.

In May 2020, the Russian government leased Batareinaya Bay from the Baltic Grain Terminal for 10 years, which enabled the company to build a 35 billion ruble (€ 387m) production and logistics complex there. and a grain terminal by 2,024.
