The letter from the 'prisoner' princess evokes a fact under investigation in 2001 (ANSA) New appeal from Princess Latifa, daughter of the very rich and powerful emir of Dubai, Mohammed Rashid al-Maktoum, after the desperate videos sent to the BBC in recent days in which she had reported that she was in fact a "hostage" of her father in a villa after a failed escape attempt dated 2018, to fear for one's life and want only freedom. New appeal from Princess Latifa, daughter of the very rich and powerful emir of Dubai, Mohammed Rashid al-Maktoum, after the desperate videos sent to the BBC in recent days in which she had reported that she was in fact a "hostage" of her father in a villa after a failed escape attempt dated 2018, to fear for one's life and want only freedom.

This time the message reaches the BBC through a letter in which Latifa herself asks the police and the British authorities to reopen the investigation into the alleged "kidnapping" of her sister Shamsa, who in turn was forcibly brought back to her homeland by the Emir. more than 20 years ago while studying at Cambridge.

The story of Shamsa, a three-year-old senior from Latifa and now 38, but 18 at the time of the facts, is known and was investigated by the Cambridgeshire Police at the time, which in 2001 closed the file, however, with a no place to proceed: between not few suspicions of cover-up dictated by hypothetical political-diplomatic pressures.

Now in the letter attributed to Latifa - whose videos in recent days have aroused alarms and protests from UN bodies, despite the official rite assurances of the Emirati authorities, and were also defined disturbing by the government of Boris Johnson, at the top of a country that, like the US, has very close ties with the Gulf country - asks to resume the investigation.

"All I ask of you is to pay attention to this case as your help could restore freedom to Shamsa who truly loves England and holds the most cherished memories of the time spent there," reads the text.

Princess Shamsa has not been seen in public since 2001: she is believed to be alive, secluded and guarded in the United Arab Emirates.
