After the scandal that caused him to have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, although it was not in the priority groups by protocol, the mayor of Intendente Alvear spoke, in La Pampa.
"They told me there was a dose left over and they called me because I'm on the front line of battle and I'm at risk. And they vaccinated me," said Juan Cruz Barton.
When justifying the application, he said that he is a person at risk and that he suffered two heart attacks.
For the case, they fired the director of the local hospital where the first dose of Sputnik V was applied
"I am a person of constant risk. It is worth clarifying it because it has to do with this context," said the mayor of Pampas at the beginning of his public explanation.
Strictly speaking, his case was not yet eligible to receive the vaccine when he was inoculated with Sputnik V.
Barton gave his explanation through a video uploaded to social networks.
He is
43 years old
and is on record as a
chronic disease
patient
.
"On January 31, 2019 I suffered two heart attacks and sudden death, so I am extremely risky. It would have been much more comfortable for me to take leave when this pandemic started and for the vice-mayor to continue. Of course I did not," he explained Barton, giving details of his condition as a patient with risk factors.
Barton made an account of what happened while awaiting vaccination.
"First there was no vaccine, so we never took leave and we faced it. When the registration was opened, my secretary made the registration for me in the month of December," he said.
He explained that on
January 9 he
was called from the Hospital "Reumann Enz" that he could "spare" a dose.
"They told me that the health team that wanted to be vaccinated, was vaccinated and that there could be a dose left over," explained the mayor of the Pampas.
"That I go to see my cardiologist for the history. I was going to need a certificate to be vaccinated and not have consequences," he said.
He got that certificate that said he could receive a Covid-19 vaccine, in addition to the instruction to stop taking an anticoagulant due to his condition as a patient with heart problems.
On
January 11 -
Barton said - they called him from the Hospital to tell him that he had a turn to get vaccinated: he had to show up at 12:30 p.m.
The mayor, who showed his vaccination card in the video, sought to detach himself from the scandal over the VIP vaccination of the Ministry of Health.
"It is a public hospital. It is not a private place where I take a vaccine and I am going to put it in a private place.
Nothing to do with this VIP that is talked about everywhere
. I did it in my hospital where all the information is corresponding, "Barton said.
"I would be touching the second dose. Now I do not know if I will have to give it when appropriate," he confided.
The Pampean mayor said that "once the personnel were vaccinated, it was deemed convenient to vaccinate those of us on the front line. And I am a person at risk," Barton explained.
When journalistic inquiries began to confirm whether Mayor Barton had been vaccinated, the Health Ministry
displaced the director of the "Reumann Enz" Hospital in Alvear, the doctor Gustavo Martínez Nievas
.
In addition, the State Prosecutor, Romina Schmidt, and the Undersecretary of Health, Gustavo Vera, reported the case to the Office of the Public Prosecutor for Administrative Investigations.
The provincial authorities themselves defined the case as
"an irregular vaccination
