In the first week of face-to-face classes in the City of Buenos Aires,
43 bubbles out of a total of 45,056 had to be isolated
due to coronavirus infections.
Another 45 did it preventively, due to suspected cases, although some were able to return to school because the tests were negative.
In other words, in seven days, 0.2% of the bubbles were isolated.
The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Education of the City.
On February 17, 370,493 students from the first, second and third grade of primary school and of the same cycle of special modality returned to school;
first and second year of high school;
and first and second year technical schools.
It is about 47% of students in all public and private schools.
The rest of the 785,152 students are being reintegrated in a phased manner.
Thus, on Monday the 22nd, those of the last four grades of primary school joined.
The "Protocol for the beginning of face-to-face classes", prepared by the City, establishes that students
must separate themselves into bubbles
that cannot have contact with each other.
In Education they say that there are 45,056 of these bubbles.
The number of members of each is variable, although it usually coincides with the grade or year.

During the first seven days in the classrooms, something inevitable happened in times of pandemic:
there were teachers and students who had symptoms of coronavirus and tested positive
.
This does not mean that they were infected at school.
It does indicate that they went to classes infected, so a protocol had to be activated that does not provide for the closure of educational establishments in these situations.
Instead, it orders
the isolation of all the members of the bubble
where the positive case appeared.
As of Tuesday night there were
43 isolated bubbles
, which represents less than 0.1% of the total distributed among all schools.
In addition, since classes began,
45 more had to be isolated due to a suspicious case
.
Although these are resuming the activity as the tests to teachers or students who may be infected are negative.
Between positives and suspects, then, only 0.2% of all the bubbles had to be isolated.
There were 45 bubbles that had to be isolated for suspected cases, which ultimately tested negative.

According to the Buenos Aires government, from February 8 to this Wednesday, 20,835 people were tested, including teaching and non-teaching staff from schools, in the three centers for that purpose.
304
were
those that tested positive
, which represents 1.7% of the total that passed the test.
From Education they explain, however, that those who test positive in these centers
must undergo a PCR test to corroborate the contagion
.
And they say that, until now, among those who did these PCR and tested positive again, plus the cases confirmed by social works and prepaid teachers and students, the existence of
198 infected
was verified
.
What happens before a contagion?
The protocol establishes that when a student, teacher or worker manifests symptoms at school, they must be isolated in the same institution, in a specially identified place.
If the symptoms appear before arriving at the school, the families of the boys must send an affidavit stating the situation and a medical certificate.
And the teaching and non-teaching staff have to apply for a license and also attach their medical certificate.
While waiting for the results of the tests, everyone must be isolated.
That is, all that bubble and the others to which that teacher is destined.
When a case is confirmed, the entire bubble must be isolated
for 10 consecutive days
.
In the case of people with symptoms, they are counted from the day they appeared.
But if the person is asymptomatic, the term runs from the date of the test.
This period of ten days of isolation is what the 43 bubbles in which a positive case was detected must meet.
From the Ministry of Education of the City they assure that the schools are obliged to guarantee pedagogical continuity and that, therefore, during the time of isolation, students must follow the classes virtually.
