(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 25 - Israel expands the atomic site of Dimona, where it is believed to have produced the first missile material for its undeclared nuclear arsenal, and Iran warns: "This is a serious threat to regional and international peace".
The expansion works at Dimona have been revealed by commercial satellite images published by the International Panel on Fissile Material, and show construction works that experts believe began in late 2018 or early 2019. This is the first expansion in decades.
The Iranian ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Baghaei Hamaneh, raised the alarm - reports Press TV - during the conference for disarmament underway in Switzerland and called for the complete elimination of weapons of mass destruction.
