But Salvini asks for 'change of pace'. 25 red areas in a few days (ANSA)

The English variant, more widespread, will soon prevail.

RT is preparing to exceed threshold 1. Intensive care in 5 regions is above the critical threshold of 30%.

With these data, "

there are no conditions to ease the measures to combat the pandemic

".

And the new Dpcm, which will come into force from 6 March,

will also cover the Easter holidays, until Tuesday 6 April

.

Health Minister Roberto Speranza is clear in reiterating the line of prudence to Parliament, in continuity with Conte 2.

While the leader of the League Matteo Salvini continues to demand "a change of pace" and in the majority there are requests for evening reopening of restaurants and other activities.

For a definition of the Dpcm, the data of the weekly monitoring on Friday are awaited and Prime Minister Mario Draghi weaves his European web in view of the extraordinary Council of today and tomorrow.

The numbers of the last 24 hours indicate a new jump in the positives: they are 16,424 against 13,314 the previous day.

Victims are falling: 318 against 356, while the positivity rate rises to 4.8% (+ 0.4%) and the intubated patients are 11 more.

The Bresciano - yesterday in 'enhanced orange' - today marks the peak of infections, with 901 cases.

Other municipalities enter the red zone and South Tyrol extends the hard lockdown until March 14.

Speranza offers a positive perspective: we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Covid, thanks to the progression of the vaccination campaign, "can be contained".

But, he warns, "in this last mile we absolutely cannot let our guard down. Today there are no epidemiological conditions to ease the contrast measures".

Underestimating the risks, says the minister, would lead to "a new uncontrolled spread of the infection, which would put our hospitals in crisis again and make our vaccination campaign more difficult".

This is why, he observes, "it would be a serious mistake if suddenly, without clear scientific evidence", there was a failure of the prescriptions adopted.

Instead, the road is to continue to differentiate the measures on the regional scale, acting in proportion to the contagion situation of each territory: a strategy that "has allowed us so far not to resort to other generalized lockdowns".

The emergence of the variants will affect the vaccination campaign and therefore must be kept under control

.

In the last few days, five regions have reported the need for 25 red areas to contain outbreaks.

According to Speranza, these are "indispensable restrictive measures", despite the awareness that they will involve sacrifices.

In this regard, the owner of the Health Service assured that the Government is committed to promoting "adequate refreshments" for the affected activities.

But the compass in the writing of the new Dpcm will be "the principle of protection and safeguarding of the fundamental right to health", because "there can be no real growth without health security".

In the Official Gazette, meanwhile,

the decree law

has been published

extending the ban on travel between regions until March 27

, still allowing "the return to one's residence, domicile or home".

The faq - not updated - present on the government website specify that second homes also fall within this definition.

But the regional or local ordinances that have established the red or 'enhanced orange' zones, as in the Bresciano area, prohibit these movements and therefore must be respected because they are more restrictive than national regulations.

The new decree comes into force: movements between regions prohibited until 27 March

Today Speranza and the Minister of Regional Affairs Mariastella Gelmini will discuss with the Regions, Provinces and Municipalities on the new measures to be adopted.

A meeting that comes a few hours after the ruling with which the Council - accepting the appeal of the government against the anti-DCM law of the Aosta Valley - has established that it is up to the State, not the Regions, to determine the measures necessary to fight the pandemic.

However, there is a strong demand from the territories to include in the measures also refreshments for economic activities that are temporarily affected by the closures.

The opening of the restaurants for dinner is invoked by the leader of FdI, Giorgia Meloni.

Matteo Salvini insists on the 'aperturista' line: "I believe that a return to life and activity of categories that have been closed for too long - he observes - is an idea shared with President Draghi. Health and work are not on separate levels: at risk two million jobs. Are we aware of the problem? ".

No backtrack from the dem governor of Emilia Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini, who yesterday supported the position of the Northern League leader.

"When Minister Franceschini, who seems to me still part of the Democratic Party - he remembers - has proposed, when it can be allowed, to reopen not only museums, but also cinemas and theaters, he makes a proposal of common sense".

Even the mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, invites the restaurants to reopen in the evening.
