The video of a hunter killing a boar at close range in Seine-et-Marne sparked outrage. Alain Martin, who had collected and raised

“I saw my baby being shot, blown off the ground, shot at point blank range.

It's as if you stabbed me with a dagger, ”says Alain Martin, a sylviculturist in Seine-en-Marne, still moved.

The scene he describes is that of a video, which today has more than a million views on the Facebook page of journalist Hugo Clément, and which shows the last moments of Hercules, the boar he had collected on his domain.

At the end of 2019, Hercules, who lives in the 170 hectare park of Alain and his family, disappears.

Immediately, Alain Martin contacted the gendarmerie of Tournan-en-Brie to open an investigation.

A group of hunters is summoned by the gendarmes and one of them admits having killed the animal, because it was "dangerous", he says.

But it was only a few months ago that Alain learned of a video showing the circumstances of the boar's death.

We see the young domesticated animal walking quietly next to a group of hunters, as if it were looking for caresses.

Suddenly, and while the boar is not showing itself offensive at all, one of the hunters points his gun and shoots the beast right in the head.

"When I had the video in hand, the hunter's version no longer held and the person had to admit the facts", explains Alain.

At the end of 2020, the Melun prosecutor's office finally dismissed the case.

"Acts of cruelty and barbarism ... these people should no longer hunt," annoys the sexagenarian.

The video of the death of the boar, broadcast by journalist Hugo Clément, has been widely reacted on social networks since its broadcast yesterday.

Bérangère Abba, Secretary of State in charge of Biodiversity, ordered the opening of an investigation by the French Office for Biodiversity (formerly the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife) under the supervision of his ministry, in order to shed light on the sad death of Hercules.
