The Capital will not vaccinate teachers at this stage, while in the Province there are 200,000 registered. What about those who work in one jurisdiction and reside in the other?

The national government advances in the vaccination plan against the coronavirus for teaching and non-teaching staff in schools based on the decision evaluated by the Federal Health Council (COFESA).

The City of Buenos Aires anticipated that it will not vaccinate teachers at this stage but will prioritize completing the immunization of health personnel.

And this raised doubts:

do teachers have to be vaccinated according to where they live or according to where they work?

As reported by the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, the inoculation program

is organized by place of residence

and not by the establishment where each member of the educational community works.

Thus, there may be situations of teachers who work in the Province and are not vaccinated for now and, vice versa, that others who do so in the Capital have received the vaccine for living on the other side of General Paz.

Buenos Aires has already started the registration process.

where

each municipality establishes a general criterion

.

By resolution of the Chief of Cabinet, it began with those over 70 and teachers at risk, to continue with those who are over 60 years old.

It is estimated that so far there are 200,000 registered as teachers through the application https://vacunatepba.gba.gob.ar/, according to official sources consulted by

Clarín

.

The vaccination of teachers will begin with the vaccine produced by the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm, of which 904,000 doses will arrive in the country on an Airlines plane tonight, and the rest to complete one million will come on a commercial Air France flight.

In this framework, the Federal Council of Education approved a

priority vaccination scheme

, taking into account that not all teaching personnel can be inoculated immediately.

The program is structured in five phases.

In the first instance, it will be the turn of the direction and management personnel, the supervision and inspection personnel.

It is estimated that it is a group with an average age of risk.

It will also include teachers of initial level -including maternity cycle-, those of the first cycle of the primary level (1st, 2nd and 3rd grade) and those of special education.

All of them, that they return to face-to-face work or, as the statement maintains, to

be "in front of male and female students

.

"

This is an estimated universe of 457,694 education workers (31%).

In a second section, there is the teaching support personnel and all other personnel without teaching appointment but who work in educational establishments with compulsory levels, in different areas and services: teacher training, administration, technical services, general services, and the like.

There they calculate a universe of 247,413 workers to be vaccinated (17%).

The third stage will correspond to teachers "in front of students" at the primary level, from the second cycle from 4th to 6th and 7th grade, as appropriate.

There will be 148,692 teachers to immunize (10%).

Secondary level teachers and continuing education for youth and adults at all levels will be the focus of the fourth phase of the plan.

Also professional training instructors.

They calculate a universe of 331,099 people (23%).

Finally, in the last group of priorities will be teachers and non-teachers from institutes of higher education and universities.

A universe of 273,185 workers (19%).

Nicolás Trotta, Minister of Education of the Nation, told

Clarín

that this order arose from the dialogue with specialists and that it was a unanimous decision of the 24 jurisdictions listening to the unions.

“There the levels to be strengthened were adopted and they are the ones that have the

most physical contact with the students

.

The focus is on the pedagogical dimension and the physical link that can be presented.

For this reason, we are launching an application for teachers to register and from there to organize the vaccination process throughout the country, which will be organized by each jurisdiction ”, he described.

It is expected that from the doses that arrive, the Province of Buenos Aires will adapt to this order over the weeks.

Except for Buenos Aires, San Luis and Tucumán, which have their own systems, the vaccination registry for staff of educational establishments begins to be implemented from this Thursday through the platform https://www.argentina.gob.ar/coronavirus /vaccine.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Education, registering does not imply requesting an appointment or a reservation to apply the vaccine.

Once the doses are available and the vaccination schedule is confirmed, registrants

will receive a notification from the authorities in their jurisdiction

.

Among teaching and non-teaching personnel, the calculation released by the Ministry of Education covers more than 1,450,000 workers throughout the country, so it is discounted that the Government will

need more doses

than it already has guaranteed with the purchase in China.
