The Munich I public prosecutor's office is again investigating professional soccer player Jérôme Boateng.
After the death of his ex-girlfriend Kasia Lenhardt, the investigation was restarted on suspicion of willful bodily harm, as the authority told SPIEGEL.
The weekly newspaper "Die Zeit" had previously reported.
The proceedings were originally initiated on December 20, 2019.
According to the public prosecutor's office, it was suspended for the time being in the summer of 2020, among other things because Lenhardt had decided not to "provide any more incriminating information."
A defense attorney for the athlete could not be reached for comment.
In the »Bild« interview a few weeks ago, Boateng described possible allegations by Lenhardt as an attempt at defamation.
Last summer, Boateng had also filed a complaint against the responsible public prosecutor for prosecuting innocent people.
However, this proceeding has been discontinued.
Lenhardt was found dead in her Berlin apartment on February 9, 2021.
There is no evidence of third-party debt.
According to the Munich public prosecutor's office, however, new findings emerged as part of the investigation into the death, which led to the resumption of the investigation against Boateng because of the alleged incident in 2019.
These have not yet been completed.
There is also another case of violence against Boateng.
At the end of 2019, the Munich District Court had admitted the former national player to be charged with bodily harm to another former partner.
The proceedings are currently not being negotiated due to the corona situation.
According to the "Süddeutscher Zeitung" at the end of 2019, Boateng's defense attorneys said that the allegations in this case were "private facts that are essentially based on unproven claims by third parties."
