Bruce Springsteen has admitted driving drunk.

"I had two small tequila shots," said the musician in court.

The trial took place online because of the pandemic, around 100 people watched.

Springsteen was checked on November 14th in Sandy Hook National Park in New Jersey.

One of the officers later noted that he saw Springsteen drink a tequila and then get on his motorcycle.

He then approached Springsteen.

The musician "smelled strongly of alcohol", "fluctuated visibly" and had "glassy eyes".

A breath alcohol test on the guard showed a value of 0.2 per thousand, which is well below the legal limit of 0.8.

"I think I can pay immediately"

Judge Anthony Mautone emphasized to Springsteen's exoneration that alcohol consumption in the park was allowed for a long time.

He also emphasized that Springsteen had almost never been guilty of anything on the road.

Since 1973, therefore, only one note has been relevant: cell phone use in a vehicle.

A register with so few entries is rare, said Mautone.

The judge fined $ 500 and paid $ 40 in court fees.

"Mr. Springsteen, I need to ask you how long it will take you to pay the fine," the judge asked.

Springsteen, with a smile, "I think I can pay right now, Your Honor."

After the incident became known, the automaker Jeep withdrew a commercial with Springesteen.

The company announced that the clip will now be shown again.
