Between acquisitions and fundraising, the video game sector is in turmoil

Game makers are courted by publishers and investors. The operations are multiplying.


While the global economy struggles with Covid-19, video game studios have never been so coveted.

Large-scale acquisitions follow one another.

Microsoft opened the ball in September with the purchase for 7.5 billion dollars of the American group Bethesda, thus getting its hands on powerful brands like Fallout or Skyrim.

The world's second-largest publisher, EA, acquired racing game specialist Codemasters in February for $ 1.2 billion.

The same EA has entered into exclusive negotiations to buy Glu, creator of mobile games, for $ 2.1 billion.

The Swedish group Embracer, meanwhile, offered the American studio Gearbox in February for $ 1.3 billion.
