Green notes of Sanremo become a playlist of the songs that talked about the environment from the Ariston stage.

From the beauty of the "bucolic and joyful" nature of "Canto nella valle" by Natalino Otto, to the pain of a world that could not save itself from the rapper Rancore in "Eden" in 2020, passing through songs such as "The Boy of via Gluck" by Adriano Celentano (1966).

Thus, on the occasion of the 71st edition of the Sanremo Festival, Comieco, the national consortium for the recycling of paper and cardboard, launches "Music for the environment" on its YouTube channel, a playlist of 15 songs to create a small virtual encyclopedia of songs green and raise awareness of eco-friendly behaviors.

Always, authors and musicians - explains Comieco - have focused the spotlight on the beauties or distortions of society and even the environment boasts songs that made you think.

According to a study by AstraRicerche for the Consortium, one in two Italians is in fact convinced that a song can influence or change behavior towards the environment and encourage the adoption of sustainable good practices.

Carlo Montalbetti, general manager of Comieco then recalls that although "9 out of 10 Italians are committed to differentiating paper and cardboard" and "in 2019 each citizen collected on average over 57 kg of cellulosic material, 3.5 million tons in total", he reiterates that "there are still many uncertainties about the rules for correctly doing this separate collection".

This is why "we too wanted to play the card of music" - he explains referring to "Vecchio Carton", an unreleased piece composed for Comieco by Elio and Le Storie Tese - "our musical response to the doubts of Italians".

Among the 15 tracks selected there are historical songs such as Green Mountains - Marcella Bella (1972), Cara terra Mia - Albano and Romina Power (1989).

To enrich the playlist, Comieco invites you to report "the songs that - outside of Sanremo - have put the environment at the center of their message, on the YouTube channel or by writing to Comunicazione@comieco.org".
