Burmese police fired rubber bullets today to disperse protesters in Yangon (formerly Rangoon), after the Asian country's ambassador to the United Nations (UN) yesterday broke ranks and launched a heartfelt call for action against the military junta.
Burma has been rocked by a wave of pro-democracy protests since the military coup overthrew civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi on February 1.
It is unclear whether live bullets were also used in the crackdowns this morning.
