(by Alessandra Baldini) (ANSA) - NEW YORK, 27 FEB - June Osborne and the other rebels of the theocratic regime of Gilead return in April to Hulu for the fourth season of the series inspired by the dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood and also this time, as and even more so in the previous three, the reference background will reflect the anxieties of the moment: in this case those of the post-Trump times.

The series will return in three of ten episodes on April 28 and will kick off when, at the end of the third season, June risks her life to free dozens of Gilead's children and send them to Canada.

Miller said he never considered the hypothesis of killing June, but that the consequences of his actions have pushed the series on a new trajectory and that the public "will be satisfied" by the solutions: "In part it has to deal with Covid and with the consideration that life is short, but this season we have tried to make progress and make things happen. "

The fourth season was back on set a year ago, but almost immediately, in March, the pandemic stopped production.

When it was possible to start shooting again it was necessary to reduce the number of people in the scenes and create lockdown "bubbles".

"The hardest thing was getting the cast to Canada. So we had to keep some actors out."

But once the "bubble" was created, between tests and quarantines, "everything went as it should," said Elizabeth Moss, who in addition to playing the role of June this time is for the first time directing three of the ten episodes.

And there is already a fifth season on the horizon anyway: Miller said he was fascinated by what happens in "TheTestaments", the sequel that Atwood released in 2019 and to which Hulu has acquired the rights: "It will be part of our future".
