While saliva tests begin to be deployed in schools, discontent has been mounting for 24 hours among teachers.

A note from National Education sent to a school director in the Rhône, relayed on social networks and confirmed today by the government, seems to indicate that the saliva tests could be carried out by the teachers themselves.

The Ministry of Education explains in fact that initially, laboratory technicians will be present during the first sampling operation to quickly train the school staff, who can then take over but only "on the basis of volunteering, ”the ministry added on Friday.

The teachers' unions denounce yet another tinkering, deploring a lack of organization and anticipation in this new screening campaign in schools.

“Teachers are not nurses!

It is totally absurd to ask us such a thing.

Our job is to teach, not to take saliva from our students, ”reacts Guislaine David, spokesperson for the Snuipp-FSU union.

According to the Snuipp-FSU union, this is however what happened this Friday morning, in two establishments in the Loire (in Villars and Saint-Etienne) where teachers did not have any other choice than to carry out the samples themselves.

“A lab came, trained the school staff for 20 minutes and dropped off all the materials.

And hop do your best!

They just came back at noon to get the samples for analysis.

Teachers therefore put on protective gear and did the work themselves.

It happened this time because they were taken aback.

But I don't think it will be the same in all schools.

Many tell me that they will refuse, ”reports Guislaine David.
