OCS resumes this Monday, March 1, the broadcasting of its post-apocalyptic series, interrupted due to a pandemic. Despite scriptwriter wanderings

The wait will have lasted five months because of the Covid-19.

Almost a semester having the right to only a few rumors in dropper, to wonder about what can well happen after the dantesque episode n ° 16 of season 10 of "The Walking Dead", broadcast in October .

Since then, fans of the most enduring zombie series in TV history have been chomping at the bit.

And get hot when one of the linchpins of the saga, actress Lauren Cohan, finally back on the screen after a long eclipse, lets go on social networks that the scenarios of the new episodes are "the best" that she has never read.

But why such a fascination for a program filled with walking corpses with rotting flesh?

"All the great figures of the fantastic have their metaphorical value," explains horror specialist François Cau, co-author, with Matthieu Rostac of

According to a History of Stephen King

(Hachette editions) and

An Oral History of Andrzej Zulawski

(Editions The Smoking Cat).

The zombie has become more significant these days because we live in a time full of existential anxieties: societal ailments almost everywhere, fear of global warming ... Max Brooks, author of the book

World War Z

, says that the zombie is reassuring because it is a metaphor for the apocalypse, but a fictional apocalypse, on which we have taken.

A series that departs from the original comics

The soap opera dimension of "The Walking Dead" is also proving to be formidably effective, with several key characters to whom we become attached.

Many spectators continue to clamor for the return of the main hero, Rick Grimes, played by actor Andrew Lincoln, who abruptly left the series in the middle of season 9, but continues to relay the news of the program on his Twitter feed.

These fans will be delighted with the reappearance of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) who, after a few seconds of presence in episode 16, is of all the scenes, or almost, in the 17, that broadcast this Monday.

"

The Walking Dead,

(Editor's note: the comics, published for the first time in 2003 in the United States, born from the imagination of Robert Kirkman and drawn to his debut by Tony Moore, then

, analyzes François Cau.

And these are soap operas, which many watch with their other half, even as a family.

We then comment on what happened, especially after traumatic episodes, such as the gradual disappearance of part of the cast, or the beginning of season 7, where the villain massacres one of the main characters.

"The Walking Dead" is finally a whole universe developed through no less than three series broadcast at the same time, a rare event (but which has already occurred for "Experts" or "NCIS") which contributes to retain its viewers.

“Fear the Walking Dead”, which now features characters from the flagship, has been renewed for a season 7 (the previous ones can be found in France on MyCanal and Amazon Prime Video).

"Worlds Beyond" (on Amazon Prime Video) has already finished its first season, the second is expected.

And new spinoff series have been announced.

The living dead never die!
