Stefano Cucchi's house in Morena, a neighborhood in the extreme south-eastern outskirts of Rome, has been sold.

This is the house that the parents of the Roman surveyor, who died on October 22, 2009 six days after his arrest, bought him to help him gain autonomy and rebuild a life.

Now that house, which has also ended up in the court papers, belongs to a young couple.

"They told us that they were proud to have bought Stefano Cucchi's house, they were excited. Stefano was certainly not a hero. He was a human being. He was my brother. Now his name means something important", says his sister Ilaria.

It is she, the central figure in the battle to obtain justice in the Cucchi case, who tells the story of Morena's house: "My parents bought it for Stefano. It was in the program recommended by the Ceis operators", the Don Picchi center against addictions frequented by Cucchi.

"He had written to them on the night of 21 October 2009. A few hours before he died. He had collected all his last energy to ask them for help", remembers his sister, posting on social media the photo of the letter addressed to a certain Francesco, "i whose characters dramatically express his pain but also his desperate will to live despite the very serious injuries inflicted upon him after his arrest ".

Ilaria Cucchi explains the reason for the sale in no uncertain terms, when asked by ANSA: "We were no longer able to meet the costs. We paid dearly for these 11 years, my father and I lost our jobs, he also fell ill as my mother. It was a hard blow, selling the house was like letting him go. The pain doesn't stop. "

"Mom and dad continued to pay the mortgage for as long as they could. To do this they fell behind with the installments of their house. It was not possible to go further and so I decided to sell the house", Ilaria writes on Facebook.

It is the same house where the family found drugs: "My father is such a good and honest person that a few days after Stefano's death he reported his son for having found a quantity of drugs in his home in Morena.

This is our family ", Ilaria claimed in 2019. Today she herself confesses:" I didn't love that house, because it was the scene of our failure. And then, when I entered it after his death, I saw you, hanging on the wall and clearly visible, a large photograph with my face. Four days ago we sold it. Such a sad moment. It may not be a consolation but it reassures me that his house belongs to two young people who know how to grasp that meaning ".
