Plastic surgery to tighten the vagina is not a surgery designed to make women look better in a swimsuit or in front of their partner, it is not a surgery that promises to "make you more beautiful", but it is a surgery that is entirely dedicated to women's enjoyment and quality of life.

Perhaps this is why it is one of the most developing surgeries in the Western world and its distribution is increasing year by year.

Know Why To Vagina: 5 Things That Happened To Your Vagina After Birth

To the full article

For years plastic surgery to tighten the vagina has been a byproduct of surgeries to treat bladder prolapse or incontinence for women who have had multiple births or instrumental births that have hit their pelvic floor.

Even when they finally realized that vaginal tightening surgery was surgery that stood on its own as surgery to improve sexual pleasure, it was distorted as "divorce surgery."

Surgery that a woman who is about to divorce her partner has to go through in order to become attractive again in the eyes of the potential suitor.

A woman in her forties, a mother of children, who finds herself returning to the singles market and to adjust to it, she undergoes a renovation campaign that includes surgery to lift the breast, tummy tuck and tighten the vagina.

As a plastic surgeon, woman, mother and spouse my aversion to the way this surgery has been presented over the years is clear.

I see this surgery as a completely opposite analysis of the horrible image he came up with.

It is a surgery designed to restore to a woman, and only to a woman, the enjoyment of sex that has declined over the years.

Every woman after childbirth, who more and who less, knows what it is all about.

In our forties, the children have grown up and suddenly there is more time to invest in a relationship whether it is old or new.

Many women tell me that just now that their sexual desire has increased, their enjoyment of sex has decreased.

How do you actually tighten the vagina?

The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia or under general anesthesia.

It lasts about an hour and a half, like any other stretching surgery, like a tummy tuck or a facelift.

Two things are done there: removing excess skin from the vaginal mucosa and tightening the deeper tissues, the muscles in order to give elasticity and tone to the tissues.

The fastening can be done in the front of the vagina or in the back, usually because the vagina is built as a cylinder, no front fastening is needed and a back fastening is enough to narrow its circumference.

The rear fastening is simpler technically, has fewer complications and gives a good solution to the loosening that we are interested in treating.

The most common technique is by removing a narrow strip of the posterior lining of the vagina.

Under the mucosa we expose the muscle layer.

Using absorbent sutures that do not need to be removed, we tighten the muscle layer from side to side, quite similar to tightening a corset.

The tightening of the mucosa and the muscle below restores the vagina to the tone it had before giving birth and allows women to enjoy more during intercourse.

At the time of surgery it is also possible to repair the perineum area (buffer area) that was torn or cut at the time of delivery and was not sutured properly.

The surgery allows women to enjoy more while having sex.

Many times the surgery also helps in mild to moderate cases of urinary incontinence during exertion.

Many postpartum women suffer from slight urinary incontinence while sneezing, running, jumping rope, etc.

The surgery changes the angle of the bladder and usually manages to alleviate this problem as well.

How soon do you recover from the surgery?

The surgery is performed as part of a day hospitalization.

The woman remains under supervision for several hours after which she is released to her home.

Recovery from surgery is relatively easy.

It is possible and desirable to perform daily activities as usual on the day after the operation, but without exertion or lifting heavy loads.

Usually after a few days to a week, it is possible to return to work and its routine activities but there is a ban on performing strenuous exercise, running, lifting heavy loads or having sex for six weeks.

The sutures are also absorbed after six weeks.

Women with more complex gynecological problems, such as uterine prolapse or bladder prolapse, are not suitable for this specific surgery and need more complex surgery.

Even young women before childbirth are not suitable for surgery and in general it is advisable to finish the birth plan before performing the surgery as another birth can harm the outcome of the surgery.

So dear woman, married or not, it really does not matter, if you feel that over the years you enjoy less while having sex, vaginal tightening surgery is first and foremost a surgery for you.

No one will give you compliments at the beach or at work like after other plastic surgeries, but there are more important things in life.

Dr. Sagit Meshulam is in charge of breast reconstructions at Beilinson Hospital and a plastic surgeon who specializes in plastic-aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
