In the first two months of the year there were 47 femicides in Argentina

47 femicides

, including eight linked, and 64 attempts, were committed in the

first two months of 2021

every 30 hours

, the organization MuMalá-Mujeres de la Matria Latinoamericana reported this Sunday.

According to the report, in the first in the first 59 days of the year 47 femicides, linked femicides and trans-transvesticides were committed.

Of the total number of cases,

39 were direct femicides

, that is, perpetrated by men for reasons associated with gender;

six linked to boys, two for filing in the act and two linked to girls.

For their part, there were

64 attempted femicides

and three

femicides

committed suicide after committing the murder.

Meanwhile, in total there were

69 violent deaths

of women, transvestites and trans people.

According to the report, nine of these deaths are linked to crimes such as drug trafficking, revenge or debt, among others, and 10 are in the process of investigation.

According to the report,

17% of femicides were perpetrated by members of the security forces

, that is, it increased by 5% compared to what was registered in January.

On the other hand,

29% of the victims had reported their attacker

, which meant a rise of 9% compared to last month;

19% had a contact or perimeter restraining order and only 4% had an anti-panic button.

According to the data provided by the MuMaLá organization, 94% of the femicides were known to the victims (64% partners and ex-partners) and 70% of the femicides occurred in the victim's home or shared home.

Finally, 40% of the attacks were with a knife and 23% were killed with a firearm, the document added.

According to statistics from the Office of Domestic Violence of the Supreme Court, in 2018 alone there were 278. Most murders occur in the homes of victims and are committed by partners or exes.
