In India, a 45-year-old was fatally injured by his own rooster.
This is reported by several media citing the police.
According to the Independent, the incident occurred on Monday in the southern state of Telangana.
In the village of Lothunur, more than a dozen people had gathered for an illegal cockfight, the police said.
A 45-year-old man came with a rooster with a knife about seven centimeters long attached to the barrel, according to the Times of India.
According to the police, the rooster tried to escape and injured its holder in the groin.
The man bled to death and was pronounced dead in the hospital.
After the incident, the other participants fled and they are being searched for.
The rooster was briefly taken to the police station, but was later handed over to a poultry farm.
The fighting has been illegal in India since 1960, says the Independent.
In many Indian states, however, the practice continues, often as part of Hindu celebrations.
