The future is already here: the smart test that detects an increased risk of having a stroke
The survey included two tests - the first test tested a short 6-minute walk, and the second test the ability to sit and stand for half a minute.
In the walking test the subjects were able to walk 450 meters, with the average being 700 meters, and in the sitting and standing test they were able to do this 14 times in half a minute, when the average is 30. These results are similar to test results of people aged 80 and over, and do not match 45s.
" In our tests we found that the physical endurance of the recoverers decreased significantly as a result of the disease, and this was manifested in shortness of breath, muscle pain and more ", explains Ran Levy Physiotherapist at Beilinson, all these patients have symptoms that accompany them after recovery In them along the way. So how do you deal with this decline?
In cases where COVID-19 affects physical strength, it is very important to keep exercising and moving, but to reduce loads and comfort a lot, unlike normal situations where we want to reach the maximum.
"The emphasis is on listening to the body more than usual and progressing the exercise loads slowly," says Nira Cohen Zubari, director of the Physiotherapy Institute and gym instructor at Beilinson, and clarifies that it is important to make sure recoverers have continuous speech ability during exertion and that they do not fall into significant shortness of breath.
Although the current survey was conducted on only 20 subjects, it is in addition to accumulating research and evidence on the long-term damage left with corona recoverers.
A study published last week found that out of 1,655 corona healers in China, 63 percent suffered from fatigue or muscle weakness six months later, 26 percent had difficulty sleeping and 23 percent suffered from anxiety or depression.
Previous studies have suggested that 1 in 10 corona patients will suffer from side effects 3 months after the disease and more.
