Today, the University of Damascus and the Iranian International University of Ahl al-Bayt signed an agreement to develop and strengthen joint scientific and academic cooperation relations and to encourage student exchange between the two parties.
In accordance with the agreement, the two sides shall cooperate in the field of creating the academic departments required of the two parties, establishing joint study courses and issuing joint graduation certificates after the Higher Education Councils approve these certificates, and cooperate in the establishment of research activities and joint supervision of master's and doctoral theses of interest to the two universities.
Under the agreement, the two sides shall cooperate in holding joint scientific conferences and symposia at the local and international levels and in the field of membership in international associations and academic institutions, mutual benefit from the capabilities and services of education and scientific research, and to benefit from the skills of professors as supervising professors and assistants on theses and theses.
The two sides will also exchange postgraduate students on the basis of the available absorptive capacities and professors through the partial loan system while facilitating the use of laboratories, equipment and scientific capabilities of the two parties, as well as planning to establish a platform for e-learning and distance education.
The two sides also agreed to appoint a joint committee that would assume the responsibility of organizing and proposing programs and executive provisions, coordinating, following up matters and supervising the implementation of the agreement, so that it would remain valid for a period of five years and could be renewed.
In a press statement after the signing of the agreement, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdin, President of Damascus University, indicated that the University of Ahl al-Bayt has provided Syrian students with more than fifty scholarships for the postgraduate studies and in various specializations, and has shown its full readiness for cooperation and scientific exchange.
The President of the Iranian International University of Ahl al-Bayt, Dr. Saeed Jazari Mamoui, pointed out that the Ahl al-Bayt University, which was established in 2004 and is located in the capital, Tehran, specializes in postgraduate studies "masters and doctorates" only and studies various disciplines of philosophy, mathematical sciences and law.
