(ANSA) - TURIN, 01 MAR - In the month of February 142,998 cars were registered in Italy, with a decrease of 12.3% compared to the same month of 2020. In the first two months of the year, 277,145 cars were registered, on 13 , 1% less than the same period last year.

The data was communicated by the Ministry of Transport.

In the same month of February, the Stellantis group registered 59,047 cars in Italy, 13% less than the same month in 2020, with a market share of 41.3% (-0.3%).

In the first two months of the year, registrations of the group were 111,669, down by 17.3% compared to the same period last year, with the share falling from 42.3% to 40.3%.

For the Centro Studi Promotor, on registrations weighs the acceleration of the pandemic, but the decline in the market is not too negative thanks to the support to the demand for the incentives provided for by the Finance Act.

"Until proven otherwise - observes Gian Primo Quagliano, president of the Centro Studi Promotor - the government's goal is to support the economy to achieve this year the 4% increase in GDP envisaged by Istat. The achievement of this goal is not compatible with a collapsing car sector. It is therefore necessary that the Governor immediately finance the incentives for the cars most in demand by the public ", ie those with traditional power.

"It is also essential that the Recovery Plan - adds the president of the Promotor Study Center, Gian Primo Quagliano - includes significant interventions to support the strategic car sector also for the ecological transition".
