The Covid pandemic has seen "a surge in disinformation campaigns and fake news" and the "margins of intervention for hostile actors inclined to the combined use of multiple tools for manipulative and influence purposes" have widened.

This is highlighted in the Annual Intelligence Report published today.

The 007s report the "use of the combined use, by the main hostile state actors, of disinformation campaigns and cyber attacks, aimed at exploiting the emotional wave caused by the health crisis, in an attempt to transform the pandemic into a strategic advantage long-term ".

Cyber attacks against assets relevant to national security increased by 20% in the year of Covid.

In particular, "it emerged that state actors have attempted to exploit the weaknesses associated with the pandemic wave to carry out sophisticated attacks aimed at exfiltrating sensitive information on therapies and the state of research".

This is highlighted in the Annual Intelligence Report published today.

The economic situation determined by the Covid emergency has "made more concrete the danger that foreign actors, also favored by access to forms of financing with non-economic purposes, would position themselves as buyers of valuable assets in Italy, with prospects for moving decision-making and production centers outside our borders and / or loss of know-how, to the detriment of the competitiveness of the national economic fabric ".
