There is no sign of easing the tension between Israel and Iran.

Today Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu accuses Tehran of attacking the Israeli-owned ship in the Gulf of Oman last Thursday.

"It was Iran. It is clear", he assures.

"Iran - he adds - is Israel's greatest enemy and we hit it everywhere in the region".

"The Iranians will not have nuclear weapons, with or without agreement. This - he declares - I also told my friend Joe Biden".

Iran's response was immediate, rejecting Netanyahu's accusation "firmly".

"The source of this accusation is the least credible there is and this proves its lack of validity," said the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Tehran, Saeed Khatibzadeh.

Although it flies the flag of the Bahamas, Helios Ray is owned by the Israeli Abraham 'Rami' Ungar, one of the richest businessmen in the country.

He himself had reported on TV that two holes with a diameter of one and a half meters were detected on the hull and that the crew, which is not Israeli, remained unscathed.

A team of Israeli security experts flew to Dubai - where the ship repaired after the explosion - to closely examine the situation.

According to military analysts in Israel, it is likely that the Helios Ray was hit by missiles and that the perpetrators did not intend to sink it, but rather to send a warning message.

"We are considering - said a senior official to the Ynet site - an appropriate response. What happened will not be accepted in silence".
