The info not to be missed

Nicolas Sarkozy is being prosecuted for corruption and influence peddling, as part of the "wiretapping affair".

The Paris Criminal Court is due to deliver its judgment on Monday, from 1:30 p.m.

According to the prosecution, the former president is accused of having used his influence to obtain judicial information concerning him.

The national financial prosecutor's office had requested against him four years of imprisonment, two of which were firm, considering that the presidential image had been "damaged" by this case with "devastating effects".

The trial of this case, which began with wiretaps between Nicolas Sarkozy and his lawyer Thierry Herzog, opened at the end of November.

The former president disputes these accusations, considering the PNF's approach as a political one.

"This affair was for me a way of the cross but if it was the price to pay for the truth to progress, I am ready to accept it", declared Nicolas Sarkozy before the adjournment of the hearing.

And to add: "I told you the truth during these three weeks, as I said in police custody and throughout the investigation.

I still have confidence in the justice of our country.
