Three hours of class.

At 11 in the morning, sixth grade finishes its shift at the República del Paraguay School No. 9, located at Hipólito Yrigoyen 9240, Lomas de Zamora.

The cousins and classmates in the classroom, Valentina and Luciana, head towards the exit, keeping distance between them.

Signs with white arrows on the floor

help them to maintain the meter and a half required

by the protocol.

They say goodbye to the teacher and the principal while their mothers wait anxiously at the entrance of the establishment.

“It was weird to see each other again after such a long time.

The first thing I did was wave my fist to my friends.

Distance is a bit difficult for me

because it prevents us from giving each other hugs and kisses.

Today we had classes in language, English and natural sciences.

Also, we practice the use of alcohol gel and the necessary care.

I already want tomorrow to start.

For the first time I am happy to bring homework ”, Valentina (10) tells this newspaper with words tinged with enthusiasm.

Luciana (10) is also happy to be reunited with her peers.

“I missed being with them and having them tell me about their stuff.

At school I understand more about what I have to study, ”he says.

Her mother, Sofía Rojas (28) is excited about the arrival of her daughter.

“I went through a lot of nerves in the previous days, but at the same time the expectations that Lu held gave me peace of mind.

Now, I feel more relaxed because he

enjoyed the comeback

.

For her, it means starting over ”, she describes.

The Province of Buenos Aires thus joined the

other 12 jurisdictions

that reopened their educational centers (the universe made up of initial and primary level, special educational modality, physical education, artistic education, psychology and adult education) this Monday within the framework of the agreement reached with the Minister of Education of the Nation, Nicolás Trotta, under the paradigm of "facing the beginning of the 2021 school year with the presence as organizer of the educational system."

However,

in several districts there are problems with the schools

which make it difficult to return to class on site.

Not all the boys suffered the same fate as those who appear in this note.

In Buenos Aires, they should reopen almost

10,000 institutions

to start in kindergartens and primary schools.

Faced with building deficiencies, lack of maintenance and delays in the provision of sanitary hygiene items, thousands of Buenos Aires students will have to wait a little longer at home.

For example, in La Plata

22% of primary schools could not receive students

, as

Clarin

had been told by

the School Council.

Both the Government and the unions refuse to give figures of how many schools have not yet been able to open their doors in Buenos Aires territory.

According to the official schedule, 750 thousand kindergarten children and 1.7 million primary school students returned to school.

This is established by the calendar that foresees the incorporation of 1.3 million from the secondary level, on March 8.

Of the 16 thousand educational establishments in the province -both public and private-, between 4 and 5 thousand are in a position to organize themselves so that all their students attend classes every day for a simple 4-hour day.

The rest can organize the degrees into subgroups, alternating between face-to-face and virtual weeks.

With a combined model, the República del Paraguay School N 9 replicates the dual system implemented by several of the schools in the Province, which involves

interspersing face-to-face assistance with other distance activities

that are determined based on the dynamics and diagnosis evaluated by the teacher at post.

Weekly rotations, for better epidemiological control, and strict protocols that follow the guidelines of the jurisdictional Plan, which considers the different realities of each school so that, according to their characteristics, they can adapt to the greatest possible presence.

Start over

“It was a positive day.

We came working daily with conditioning, cleaning, disinfection and ventilation tasks.

The classrooms were distributed so that the larger ones are occupied by the largest groups.

Each course is divided into subgroups ranging from 10 to 15 boys.

The dictation of classes cannot exceed the block of 90 minutes.

The breaks are staggered and last 10 minutes ”, explains Paula De Carlo, director for more than 5 years at the institution, which is now 125 years old.

De Carlo prefers to use the term group, followed by the jurisdictional plan, rather than "bubble" to avoid confusion.

“It is necessary to take advantage of the presence to reinforce the educational content.

The families left happy and they are adjusting to an unprecedented scenario ”, he adds.

11.20 is dismissal time for fourth graders.

“It was nice to be with my classmates and with the teacher.

I enjoyed the morning studying and playing with them, although it

was strange for

me to

wear a chinstrap all the time

”, underlines Luz (9) whose group is 10 classmates.

Luciana, her mother, welcomes her with a hug at the entrance while she experiences the moment on the surface.

It is pure emotion.

“This is all new.

I was nervous and scared because I didn't know how it was going to turn out or how it could feel.

The fact of seeing the school again is rewarding and seeing it happy gives me confidence ”, he tells

Clarín.

The teachers prepared the school to welcome the students.

Patricia Izzo is the first grade teacher.

She has been in the profession for more than 28 years, but never before had she felt the same sense of happiness that she had when she returned to school.

She felt the return to class when she took her first steps into the classroom and breathed in the fragrance of new notebooks.

“The boys were nervous, but

eager to play, share and do activities.

It was a beautiful morning.

No one cried, they asked each other names to get to know each other, they easily adapted to the permanent use of masks.

Divided into subgroups of 11, we work with the recognition of their names, sense of belonging and with the protocol.

The work of the families during the summer was noticed.

He trusted them and they adapted better than the adults.

I return to my house happy with the desire that the year flows in contact ”, she defines.

The distance boys

, the director reminds the last boys to leave before saying goodbye to the end of the morning.
