The third season of “Formula 1: Drive to survive”, immersed behind the scenes of the paddock of the fastest drivers on the circuit, is getting down to a year unlike any other, marked by an interruption due to Covid, the seventh title Lewis Hamilton's World Cup, the first victory for outsider Pierre Gasly, or the terrible accident from which Romain Grosjean miraculously escaped with "only" a few burns.

A documentary series which is worth by its staging of the rivalries, the little phrases, the frustration and the adrenaline of these great champions.

"Charmed" seasons 1 to 8

Three sisters with magical powers who fight demons: the series "Charmed", created in 1998, fascinated fans for eight seasons.

Actresses Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty (then Rose McGowan) carry this fantastic and feminine series.

A powerful trio that made "Charmed" a cult series, establishing itself as a breathtaking fantasy fiction and a well-calibrated feminist series.

"Invincible"

Robert Kirkman is not only the creator of the comic strip "The Walking Dead", at the origin of the series of the same name.

A year before the first adventures of his living dead, he had launched "Invincible", the story of the teenage son of a superhero, who discovers that he has inherited his extraordinary abilities.

It is the subject of an animated series adaptation with, wink, the vocal participation (in original version) of Steven Yeun, one of the actors of "Walking Dead".

"Why Women Kill" season 1

Three eras, three married women, three murders and one house: this is the equation of “Why Women Kill”.

This series created by Marc Cherry, the father of "Desperate Housewives", navigates in each episode between the 1960s, the 1980s and today.

Ginnifer Goodwin ("Big Love", "Once Upon a Time") plays Beth Ann, in 1963, who devotes herself to the happiness of her husband, who does not give it back to her at all.

In 1984, we discover Lucy Liu who lends her features to Simone, a rich woman married for the third time, who spends her time organizing fabulous parties for her wealthy friends.

Finally, in 2019, Taylor (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) is a lawyer married to a common-law man.

We feast on the eccentricities of the characters, the writing mixing drama and comedy, the beauty of the reconstructions and the thriller side, because it is indeed a question of murders.

"We Are Who We Are"

Long-awaited series, "We Are Who We Are" is directed by Luca Guadagnino, the filmmaker who signed the jewel "Call Me By Your Name" at the cinema.

It arrives in the Starzplay offer, accessible to some of Canal + subscribers.

The first hero is Fraser, a teenager who has two mothers, one of whom is a colonel in the American army, and who settles in a military base in Italy.

The boy is so unbearable that we don't really want to follow him any further.

Fortunately, the series is also interested in Harper, young woman who wonders about her gender, much more endearing.

Too bad that fiction, contemplative and sometimes boring, looks a little too much at the navel.

"The Shield" seasons 1 to 7

In Los Angeles, in a multi-ethnic neighborhood plagued by gang wars, a team of cops, called the Shock Brigade, is ready to do anything to arrest dealers, pimps, Latino, black or Armenian thugs.

To achieve this, these cops do not hesitate to come to terms with the enemy, to infiltrate the gangs while racketeering them in the process… The creator of the series, Shawn Ryan, manages to make such a detestable band of anti-heroes fascinating. that endearing.

Thanks to a frantic staging and an assumed violence, this detective fiction marked the history of the series for seven seasons, from 2002 to 2008. With, as a bonus, an unexpected and particularly successful ending.

"Staged" seasons 1 and 2

Born during the first confinement, the “Staged” series features videoconference exchanges between David Tennant and Michael Sheen.

The two actors, who shared the poster for the series "Good Omens" on Amazon Prime Video, are supposed to rehearse a play here.

We discover them at home, sometimes joined over the course of the episodes by their companions and by a crowd of surprise guests.

Self-mockery is in full swing, resulting in some hilarious scenes.

A real success which was followed on the occasion of a second confinement, at an even higher level.

"It's a Sin"

Russell T. Davies is a genius.

The creator of the new version of "Doctor Who" and "Queer As Folk", had captivated us in 2019 by imagining the dark future of our society in the series "Years And Years" (still available on MyCanal).

This time he looks to the past in "It's a Sin", which follows a group of young people in London at the beginning of the 1980s. The heroes, gays or allies of the LGBTQ community, will be confronted with the AIDS epidemic which is decimating its ranks.

Jewel of sensitivity, emotion but also humor, here is a new nugget.

"Breeders" season 2

We loved the first season of this bittersweet comedy about parenthood.

The duo of actors formed by Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard embodied a couple a little overwhelmed by their two children.

While it made us howl with laughter, the series had ended its first ten-episode round on a more dramatic note.

We can't wait to find out what this second season has in store for us.

"City on a hill" season 2

After a dazzling first season, the Boston crime series of the 1990s returns with a new delivery, still produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

She once again recounts the stormy relationship, between frank opposition and reluctant collaboration, of the young African-American prosecutor DeCoursy Ward with the ripou FBI agent Jackie Rohr.

This time, the two men are involved at different levels in the death of a girl from a sensitive neighborhood, the victim of a stray bullet following a bloody brawl between rival gangs ... thriller, social chronicle and political intrigue.

With, in the role of Jackie Rohr, a grandiose Kevin Bacon, between furious madness, black humor, demonic manipulations and poetic-lyrical outbursts.

“Allen v.

Farrow '

The series is called “Allen v.

Farrow ”, that is to say Woody Allen versus Mia Farrow, clan against clan, like the two irreconcilable versions of a case which has hit the headlines for nearly thirty years.

But it is also a misleading title, because the actor-director does not take part in this documentary series.

But she skilfully made use of the audio version of her book of memoirs.

We can therefore hear her voice-over, which itself reads her autobiography, an audiobook distributed commercially, used here by extracts in counterpoint to the testimonies of Mia Farrow, and her daughter Dylan, who accuses her father of sexual touching when she was 6 years old.

Beyond this staging trick, the strength of this series, which clearly takes sides, lies in its raw documents and its testimonies: Mia Farrow has given access to all of her family films.

Whatever point of view we adopt, we can only experience, in addition to unease and compassion, a sadness taken aback by so much misfortune, this open fracture, and these images of before too beautiful to be true.

"The Walking Dead" season 10

Here is finally the continuation of season 10, filming and broadcasting interrupted by the pandemic.

She picked up the 1st on OCS, with episode 17, which places great emphasis on the return of one of the mainstays of the series, Maggie (played by Lauren Cohan), while, barely the threat of the Whisperers dismissed, appear. already new opponents ... Then follow five new episodes for this season longer than the previous ones, which ultimately promises, despite its programming vagaries, to be less dispersed than the previous ones.

"Black Narcissus"

A surprising project is this unseen British mini-series, which marks one of the last appearances of Diana Rigg, known for her roles in "Bowler hat and leather boots" and "Game of thrones".

It tells the story of a community of nuns deep in the Himalayas, during the 1930s. Cloistered and isolated, these women must nevertheless fight against their temptations.

A story already adapted to cinema via "The Black Narcissus" (1947), considered one of the absolute masterpieces of British cinema.

A hell of a challenge to take up!

"Marvel: Agents of SHIELD" season 6

Series set in the Marvel superhero universe have a reputation for not lasting long.

“Agents of SHIELD” is the exception that confirms the rule, since here is the arrival of season 6, already passed by us on Série Club (the 7th has already been broadcast in the United States).

SHIELD spies continue to rule law and order, threatened by a host of villains, aliens and humans.

Action and humor always on the program.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 16

A few days after Amazon Prime Video, it's Disney + which also offers the 16th season of the medical series.

We must salute the inventiveness of the writers of the medical series who always manage to surprise after so many years, not hesitating to endanger its protagonists.

Full of twists and turns, this season 16 is a success even if it says goodbye to one of its key characters: Dr. Alex Karev.

"The Resident" seasons 1 and 2

While the third season starts on March 3 on TF 1, Disney + subscribers can afford a catch-up session of the series "The Resident".

In the very provided genre of medical series, this one manages to stand out with a more cynical tone.

It takes place in Atlanta, United States, at Chastain Hospital, a private institution.

We discover its corridors at the same time as Devon Pravesh, a first year resident who takes his first steps there.

This beginner and idealistic doctor will go from disillusionment to disillusion by discovering the perverse effects of the American health system exacerbated in this kind of establishment where profit is king.

But all is not dark, as the duo formed by the very rock'n'roll doctor Conrad Hawkins (played by Matt Czuchry) and the devoted nurse Nic Nevin (played by Emily VanCamp) give a great touch of charm to the series.

"Trainers" seasons 1 to 3

Zach Galifianakis is known worldwide for his comedic role in the “The Hangover” saga.

In "Baskets" he plays more on the sensitive chord by playing Chip Baskets, a man who dreams of becoming a professional clown, but suffers setbacks.

This loser character was co-created by Louis CK who perfectly masters black humor and anti-heroes.

Often touching but sometimes annoying, the series "Baskets" is a funny object which displays a perfect cast, but gets lost a little in a scenario too often depressing.

"Falcon and the Winter Soldier"

Following the tragic events at the end of "Avengers Endgame", the superheroes who remained alive try to consider the future.

Two of them, Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, the "Winter Soldier", long despised and considered a supervillain but since rehabilitated, will team up to save the world.

While Falcon wonders about his role to play while the place left by Captain America remains vacant ... Second series of phase 4 of the MCU after "WandaVision", this new series Marvel Avengers allows to find two minor heroes of the saga, in particular the fascinating Winter Soldier, interpreted with great accuracy by Sebastian Stan.

"The Catch" seasons 1 and 2

The Los Angeles sun, the glamor of a prestigious detective agency and its wealthy clients, crooks targeting a princess… “The Catch”, produced by Shonda Rhimes (creator of “Grey's Anatomy” and “Scandal”), entry displays a seductive side.

The amazing actress Mireille Enos plays Alice Vaughan, a renowned private detective launched in pursuit of a mysterious Monsieur X, a crook who is rampant in the world of finance.

Very quickly, we learn that the latter is none other than Christopher, Alice's fiancé!

A hunt for twists and turns begins.

The Usurper is played by the always surprising Peter Krause and the dynamics of the central duo are catchy.

"Trust"

Multi-millionaire American industrialist, John Paul Getty plans to bequeath his empire to his grandson when the latter, indebted to the Italian mafia, is kidnapped in Rome.

The true story of the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, heir to the oil dynasty, is revisited in the "Trust" series.

In the role of the disillusioned patriarch grandfather, Donald Sutherland is masterful and the fiction paints an uncompromising portrait of the Getty family, where money clearly does not buy happiness.

Dynamic and remarkably directed by Danny Boyle ("Trainspotting", "Slumdog Millionaire"), "Trust" manages to take us in its clutches despite its gallery of unfriendly characters.

"The Grave"

Policeman mixed with science fiction, “The Grave”, original production, starts from an original idea.

In an earthquake, the skeletons of three people are discovered.

However, their DNA corresponds to that of two men and a woman alive and well!

How is it possible ?

A story in 8 episodes that we owe to Omri Givon, at the origin of several famous series, such as "Hostages".

Available March 4.

"The Big Bang Theory" seasons 1 to 12

Since "Friends", no comedy had managed to make us laugh for so many years.

Who would have thought that a bunch of physicists as brilliant as they were infrequent would be worthy heirs to the Central Perk troop?

"The Big Bang Theory" seduces with its hilarious skewer of sweet crazy, dominated by the prodigious Sheldon Cooper, misanthropic and maniac, whose disdain for social conventions and love is an inexhaustible comic spring.

A success as much in the writing as in the interpretation, where even the female characters escape formatting.

Available on 5.

EDITOR'S RATING: 4.5 / 5

"Crisis unit"

A Swiss series, co-produced with Belgium and Luxembourg, which delves into the mysteries of international institutions based in Geneva: this is the starting point of “Crisis Cell”.

During a trip to Yemen, the president of the International Humanitarian High Commission (fictitious version of the International Committee of the Red Cross) is the victim of an attack.

Its vice-president (played by André Dussollier), touched by a personal tragedy, then maneuvered for a female university student from outside the organization to take the lead.

At the same time, embezzlement at the International Football Federation emerges.

Too bad that the central plot is parasitized by a multitude of scriptwriting additions which confuse the whole.

Available on 12.

EDITOR'S RATING: 2.5 / 5

"To Confession"

Inspired by a true story, "A Confession" traces the stubbornness of a police officer, determined to do everything to arrest a man responsible for the disappearance of a young woman.

Even if it means not respecting the procedures in force and thus risking his career.

This hero, Steve Fulcher, is played by Martin Freeman (seen in "Sherlock", "The Hobbit", as well as in "Breeders", season 2 of which arrives March 23 on MyCanal).

"A Confession" is a remarkable six-part thriller that the British have the secret.

EDITOR'S RATING: 4/5

"Broadchurch" seasons 1 and 2

Daniel Latimer is dead.

This 11-year-old boy is found on the beach, at the foot of a cliff.

In the small English town of Broadchurch, his death is an upheaval from which no one will come out unscathed.

Not even Detective Alec Hardy, newly arrived and therefore a stranger to the community of residents.

Its interpreter, David Tennant, is poignant as a man rinsed by a dark past.

He teams up with Ellie Miller, a jovial female cop overwhelmed by the difficulty of the task that awaits them.

In this role, the actress Olivia Colman ("The Crown", "The Favorite") shows a surprising sensitivity and has nothing to envy her partner.

We then let ourselves be carried along in their wake, lulled with emotions reinforced by a production and a perfectly mastered soundtrack.

A model of its kind, the first season of which is a masterpiece, the second being a bit below.
