MILAN - The Maddalena Sursock by Artemisia Gentileschi is wounded by the explosion that devastated Beirut last August 4, now placed at the end of the exhibition itinerary of the exhibition 'Le Signore dell'Arte.

History of women between '500 and' 600 '.

But that's also part of its charm.

The work takes its name from the Sursock family, one of the most aristocratic in Lebanon, with Roman relatives such as the Colonna family.

Arrived from the Middle East in a chest, today it was released by the Royal Palace experts who assessed its conditions.

The holes resulting from the explosion are clearly visible and perhaps even more fascinating is the painting that has only recently been attributed to Artemisia Gentileschi, thanks to Gregory Buchakjian's doctoral thesis at the Sorbonne, confirmed by the scholar Riccardo Lattuada. This Magdalene is an unpublished work, for the first time on display, and certainly also for the last before the necessary restoration.
