Buy or order a corona test and do it yourself without any help: As the news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) informed on February 24, people in Germany can test themselves for the corona virus in just a few days.

The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) had issued special approvals for three products for use at home

, according to a statement on Wednesday.

After approval, it is assumed that the tests will be available in a few days, for example in discounters, but also online, as the AFP reports.

For all three approved products, the samples are taken through a smear in the front nose

According to Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn, it is still open whether the fee will be subsidized in the future and also depends on the price.

It makes a difference whether they cost two or ten euros.

Originally, Spahn had considered handing in the self-tests with an own contribution of one euro.

Smear in the front nose: simple corona tests approved for use at home

As the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) informs, Health Minister Spahn expects that further approvals for lay corona tests will follow in the coming weeks.

The self-tests that have already been approved will soon be available for purchase, as he announced in the ZDF “Morgenmagazin” magazine.

The nationwide start of the rapid tests on March 1, which Spahn had promised, will probably be postponed

On the third of March at the next federal-state meeting, questions about the topic should be clarified beforehand, as the SZ reports.

The self-tests are a supplement to the already approved, which must be carried out by trained staff, as Spahn is quoted in the AFP report.
