In the process of the death of three-year-old Greta from Viersen, the public prosecutor's office has spoken out in favor of life imprisonment.
The prosecution asked the Mönchengladbach regional court to convict the suspected educator of murder and to determine the gravity of the guilt, as a court spokesman said.
The secondary prosecution joined the demands, the defense pleaded for an acquittal.
The verdict is due to fall on Friday.
The defendant Sandra M. is accused of murder and mistreatment of wards in eight cases.
The 25-year-old from Geldern is said to have compressed the chest of the daycare child Greta until she stopped breathing.
The emergency doctor was able to reanimate the girl, but she died days later in the hospital.
The educator is said to have mistreated other children in the same way before.
At the beginning of the trial, M. denied all allegations.
