The Buenos Aires government questioned this Wednesday the way in which vaccines against the coronavirus are distributed and asked to discuss it, arguing that in the City there is a

higher proportion of the population at risk than in the rest of the jurisdictions

.

"The Nation has made a decision to distribute vaccines based on the general population when the vaccine is applied to risk groups and, unfortunately, risk groups are not provided to the general population in all jurisdictions," said the Minister of Buenos Aires health Fernán Quiros at a press conference.

And he added: "Everyone knows that the City has a health worker load much higher than the average in Argentina and the population pyramid is older than the average, and they are the most important groups to vaccinate."

Quirós claimed "to

discuss, dialogue and agree

" to "improve, optimize so that all citizens of Argentina have the same possibility."

This form of distribution of vaccines gives the City 7% of the doses that reach the country but, for example, it has 18.4% of all health professionals.

Quirós explained that the City has a population at risk to vaccinate of 1.2 million people and that currently about 145 thousand people received the first dose.

"We have estimated and documented 1,200,000 porteños who meet risk group criteria. That is the amount that we have to vaccinate and as of today we have given a first dose to about 145 thousand people, that is, we

have reached a little more 10% and we have to move forward,

"he said.

The officials assured that there is a "plan set up to vaccinate 25 thousand people per day, so that

in 60 days we could vaccinate the entire population at risk with the first dose

."

Quirós insisted on the need to advance the vaccination plan before the second wave of infections arrives: "

We know that we have a second wave ahead

, we know that vaccination is slow but that it will be able to accelerate in the coming weeks." , he stressed.

The official also referred to the objective of the national Ministry of Education to advance in the vaccination of teachers and warned that, for the moment, they have vaccines aimed at health people and the population at greatest risk.

"Understanding the request of the education workers and the request of Minister Trotta. We have a meeting pending and we are going to have a dialogue to address this issue," Quirós said.

The Government of the City had been in the middle of the controversy days ago when it was known that it had trained doses of the vaccines to the prepaid so that they apply them to their affiliates, but Quirós once again defended it: "The agreement that we have signed indicates to those who They can vaccinate and what is the order of priority, that is, who is vaccinated first, and it is the same order that the public system has, "he said.

Explaining last week the decision to deliver doses to prepaid companies, Quirós pointed out that it was an operational issue.

"One of the demands that we ask is that we be able to maintain equity in the vaccine supply. Each social work and prepaid gave us the list of people associated with more than 80 years. They have to take charge of vaccinating all of them and we will give the proportion of vaccines according to the amount of vaccines we receive, "he said.

And he added: "If a certain social work has 1% of those over 80 on its payroll, it is responsible for vaccinating that 1% and receives 1% of the vaccines that we receive. The rest remains for our vaccinations."

The complaint about alleged irregularities in the implementation of the vaccination campaign in the CABA aimed at the head of Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta y Quirós and accused them of non-compliance with the duties of a public official and for the same crime plus bribery, embezzlement of public funds , and spread of disease, in the second.
