(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 03 - In the fourth quarter of 2020, gross domestic product, adjusted for the effects of the calendar and seasonally adjusted, decreased by 1.9% compared to the previous quarter and by 6.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2019. Istat notes this, specifying that the previous estimate was a decrease of 2% in short-term terms and of 6.6% in terms of trends.
The fourth quarter had 2 working days less than the previous quarter and one more than in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The contraction of the economy, explains Istat, is "the effect of the new measures adopted to contain the health emergency".
The acquired change in GDP for 2021 is 2.3%.
