These young people who get involved with seniors


With the “senior citizen solidarity service”, the government intends to end the isolation of the elderly.

Faced with the discomfort of young people and the increased difficulties of professional integration during the Covid period, the government is stepping up its initiatives.

After the launch in July of the plan 1 young 1 solution endowed with more than 7 billion euros, Emmanuel Macron made, Monday in Stains (93), the promotion of mentoring, with the objective that 100,000 young people can benefit from it this year. .

On Wednesday, it was Brigitte Bourguignon's turn, Minister Delegate for Autonomy, to launch the “senior solidarity civic service”, which aims to hire and train 2,000 young people from the first half of 2021 and 10,000 within three years.

Since its creation in 2010 under the five-year term of Nicolas Sarkozy, more than 500,000 young people have engaged in civic service.

Whether graduates or dropping out of school, these young people fulfill a mission of general interest for six to twelve months within associations or public services.

In return, they receive a monthly allowance of 580 to 680 euros.
