(ANSA) - TOKYO, 03 MAR - Prove that you are curious and sure you can contribute "on an artistic level" during the first trip around the Moon.

It is the offer of the Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, looking for 8 people to transport in his company aboard the Starship rocket in the 2023 SpaceX mission.

It is an evolution of the project announced in September 2018 together with the founder Elon Musk, allowing an enlarged total of 10-12 people to fly on a lunar orbit.

The trip will be paid for in full by 45-year-old Maezawa - who has a personal fortune of $ 1.9 billion, accumulated after founding the online fashion site Zozotown, before dividing it to Yahoo!

in 2019.

In the two videos uploaded to the internet, the Japanese billionaire explained that the trip will last a total of six days and applications for participation must be submitted by 14 March.

In the same video Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, said that his spaceship will have reached orbitalunar several times before the Maezawa mission in 2023, adding that he is confident about the improvements in the safety parameters of space tourism.

An injection of confidence necessary after the latest uncertain experiments.

The December test of the SpaceX prototype at the BocaChica base in Texas saw the Starship rocket explode during landing, causing its destruction.

At the beginning of February, the test of the Starship Sn9 prototype, the launch system designed for travel to Mars, failed.

On that occasion, after taking off regularly, the flight ended in a spectacular explosion when the rocket failed to slow down enough upon landing.

Musk's declared goal is to create a shuttle to make the dream of space travel for tourism a reality, with the possibility of starting intercontinental journeys from one end of the Earth to the other and for future explorations around the Moon.
