An explosive device exploded at a corona test center in Bovenkarspel, North Holland.

No one was injured, the police said.

The investigators assume a targeted action, as a spokesman said on the radio.

The test center is located in the small town around 50 kilometers north of Amsterdam.

Shortly before 7 a.m., a metal pipe exploded there, according to police.

Five window panes were said to have broken.

At the time, only one security guard was present, the police said.

This was not injured.

Police experts examined the area for possible further explosive devices.

The investigators did not provide any information about possible perpetrators.

In the Netherlands, the measures to contain the corona pandemic are highly controversial.

In January, the introduction of a night curfew - the first in the Netherlands since the end of World War II - triggered protests, some of which were violent.

More than 400 people were arrested during its course.

The nocturnal curfew should apply until mid-March.

At the end of January, a test center was set on fire during protests against the lockdown in the small town of Urk in north-east Amsterdam.
