"The number of seriously ill patients remains relatively high":

A report by the National Security and Information Center published today (Thursday) states that the extent of infection in the corona in the population is extensive.

The coefficient of infection, which has been on an upward trend in recent weeks, has dropped again from 1 to 0.99.

This is against the background of the continued opening of the economy in Rishon.

"We are on the verge of re-expansion," the experts state, noting that another sign of a resumption of the rise in morbidity is the national positive rate, which stands at more than 5% on a weekly average and continues to be relatively high.

As mentioned, there is a slight decrease in the coefficient of adhesion from 1 to 0.99.

However, since the closure opened in early February, a gradual increase in the coefficient has been identified.

According to experts, it is probably related to the removal of restrictions and the contribution of the British variant, which has become dominant in Israel and is a much more contagious strain compared to previous strains and significantly increases the risk of serious illness and hospitalization.

Experts state that the vaccine is also effective against the new strains identified in the country, so vaccination is expected to prevent coronary heart disease and its long-term damage (which was observed in 1 in 10 patients).

At the same time, it is precisely recovering people who are at risk of re-infection by the South African mutation found in Israel, and it is possible that they may also be infected again with other similar strains such as the New York mutation.

It is therefore advisable to vaccinate them, as in the meantime vaccines are also showing efficacy against the mutations.

The average weekly carrier stands at 3,640 every day.

The weekly average of patients is 42,283, slightly more than the average of weekly active patients last week which stood at 41,816.

The report states that it is of paramount importance to complete the vaccination of the elderly population (aged 50 and over), in which about 12% remain unvaccinated - these are 300,000 residents and more who have not received even one vaccine and are at risk for increased morbidity. Bottom line, 84% Those aged 50 and over were vaccinated. This is a very nice number, but not enough according to the report, given the dangerous plans that are expected to arrive in Israel from abroad.

Following the opening of the skies and Ben Gurion Airport ahead of the elections, the authors of the report write that "there is a risk that more corona varieties will arrive in Israel, and we recommend that those entering and isolation be checked. They also state that the masking regulations in Israel must be tightened. Very contagious.
