(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 04 - Magrittian beginning: a white cow perfectly in the center of the huge courtyard of a prison near Tehran.
Thus starts, almost to displace, LABALLATA DELLA CUCCA BIANCA Iranian film written and directed by Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moghaddam, full of poetry, love and drama that fully looks at the palmares of this 71th edition.
A truly remarkable film, from the Bear, and with a leading actress, the same co-director, Maryam Moghaddam (formerly in the film by Jafar Panahi, CLOSED CURTAIN) that leaves you speechless for skill (the lipstick scene is unforgettable).
The story is sad, desperate, but always full of hope.
Mina's (Moghaddan) life plummets when her husband is sentenced to death (the first scene sees her in prison to give him his last farewell) and sinks even further when she learns that her husband Babak was completely innocent of the crime for which he was executed.
The authorities apologize for the mistake made and also offer the prospect of financial compensation.
Mina, who lives with her daughter Bita, deaf from birth but full of vitality, begins a battle against the system that has put her beloved husband to death.
But, as in a fairytale, a sad-looking stranger named Reza (Alireza Sanifar) knocks on her door, who, she says, has come to repay a debt he owed Babak.
At first Mina, who works with great difficulty in a milk plant, is rightly distrustful, but the man is very kind, also good at creating a relationship with his daughter who now calls him uncle.
The amical-sentimental affection that is created between the two, however, will have to confront the secret that binds them to each other, a secret full of pain and guilt.
"This is the story of many people who live around us, certainly many in the world. The main characters are actually inspired by real people. In the credits of the film, we dedicate it to Mina, the real Mina, Maryam's mother, the woman who inspired us, "explains director Sanaeeha.
