(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 04 - The American Tsunami Center has extended the tsunami alert to the entire Pacific, after the new 8.1 magnitude earthquake off the coast of New Zealand. Unusual waves are expected to New Zealand and Australia, Hawaii, the Fiji Islands, the Cook Islands, Samoa, the coasts of Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Mexico.
Hundreds of people are fleeing the coastal areas of northern New Zealand. This was reported by the New Zealand media.
