(ANSA) - MILAN, 04 MAR - A Covid outbreak has developed among the members of the La Scala ballet, with 35 dancers and three weakly positive members of the dance direction.

The theater communicates this by adding that "again from the results of the tests received yesterday, 3 cases of positiveness emerged in the singing company of the diptych of works by Kurt Weill (Die sieben Todsünden and Mahagonny Songspiel) which was scheduled to be broadcast in streaming by Rai Cultura su RaiPlay on the next 18 March, and two in the hair sector ".

This is not the first outbreak at La Scala, last November there were about fifty positive cases in the choir, which had forced the cancellation of the Lucia di Lammermoor scheduled (without audience but live on TV) for the inauguration of 7 December, later replaced by a show of arias with a cast of great singers.

The activities of the Ball had already been cautiously suspended starting from February 26, after the discovery, in the tampons that are regularly made on the staff in the theater, of a weakly positive dancer, who was then quickly negativized.

That day the "Homage to Nureyev" should have been recorded, scheduled for streaming on Sunday 28, which instead has been postponed until a later date.

At the moment the rehearsals of the diptych by Kurt Weill (Die siebenTodsünden and Mahagonny Songspiel), scheduled under the direction of Riccardo Chailly, have also been suspended.

The cast was busy rehearsing the scenery in the former Ansaldo pavilions and had not yet come into contact with the orchestra.

In the checks - which are carried out in collaboration with the Sacco hospital, also to check if there are variants of the virus - all the ecoro orchestra professors were negative and therefore the Stabat Mater directed by Maestro Myung-Whun Chung scheduled for tomorrow at 6 pm remains confirmed. and broadcast by Rai Cultura in live streaming on RaiPlay.
