An impressive and exciting achievement for Israeli medicine - the Haim Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer has been chosen as one of the ten leading hospitals in the world in the annual ranking of the American Newsweek magazine.
Sheba Hospital is ranked at the top of the table, in 10th place, along with leading and famous medical centers such as the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and the Canadian General Toronto Hospital.
This is the third year that Sheba Hospital appears in this honorable ranking, Hospitals in the world The ranking includes 2,000 medical centers from 25 countries around the world.In Newsweek magazine they explained that in the annual ranking, the hospitals that maintain continuous excellence stand out, which have a staff of leading doctors in their field and provide their patients with first-class nursing services.

Appearing in a respectable place in this ranking is always a remarkable achievement, but all the more so after a year like 2020 that brought to the doorstep of the Israeli and global health system one of the great and challenging health crises of modern times, in the form of the corona plague.

Prof. Yitzhak Kreis, director of Sheba Medical Center, said in response to the hospital's high rating that "over the past year, in the face of the challenges of the Corona, the public health system in Israel has been revealed in full force. "We are once again placed at the top of the best hospitals in the world. The medical staffs have succeeded in leading the national struggle in Corona, while promoting and providing the best and most advanced medicine. I salute you. This achievement is yours."
The top three of the top hospitals in the rankings are all American - Mayo Clinic in first place, Cleveland Clinic in second and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in third.
Hospitals from Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Singapore can be found in the top ten.
Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, which appeared in Newsweek's 34th place last year, was dropped this year from the first Maya of the world's leading hospitals, and was ranked in the second Maya.
