Which streaming service is canceled most often? And which platform is considered unpopular? Volders looked at the numbers and put together a top 10.

Which streaming service is canceled most often?

And which platform is considered unpopular?

Volders looked at the numbers and put together a top 10.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, many streaming providers have recorded a particularly high influx, as many users want to pass the time in lockdown.

But contract manager Volders has now examined whether consumers are also satisfied.

The company ranked the TV streaming providers according to the

number of terminations

from 2020. In addition, Volders evaluated almost 690,000 reviews on Trustpilot and the App Store.

Sky loses most of its users

Around 29 percent of all contract terminations in the streaming sector are due to the provider Sky *, which therefore has

the highest number of cancellations

.

TVNOW follows with around 12 percent.

After that, the sports streaming provider

DAZN

joins

the most terminated companies by a considerable margin (around 5 percent of all terminations).

With all three providers, consumers stated that they

had

canceled them for

financial reasons

.

In addition, they

did not meet user expectations

.

At Sky, customers primarily complained about the

unfavorable price-performance ratio

, at DAZN, on the other hand, the

reception

that was in need of

improvement was

the second most common reason for termination.

Lots of layoffs and bad reviews for TVNOW

On the Trustpilot portal, TVNOW and Maxdome received the

lowest number of stars

among the top ten streaming providers (1.2 out of five possible stars).

Consumers rated DAZN, Sky Austria and Joyn somewhat better (1.4 stars).

Sky follows with the 1.9 stars awarded to them.

Despite the many terminations, freenet TV is

the most popular provider

, giving users 3.6 stars.

Waipu TV (two stars) follows freenet TV on the satisfaction scale.

DAZN is the most popular with Apple users

While DAZN has the third most terminations among the video-on-demand platforms at Volders and receives below-average ratings on Trustpilot, iPhone users are satisfied: They give the provider

4.6 out of five possible stars

in the App Store

.

This puts the sports streaming provider on a par with Waipu.tv.

Second place went to TVNOW and Disney + with

4.5 stars

each

.

With

4.3 stars received

, Sky holds the bronze rank.

Thus, the companies that had to accept the highest or second highest number of contract terminations with Volders also do significantly better in the App Store.

Maxdome receives

the lowest number of stars (1.7)

from its customers in the App Store

.

Sky Ticket achieved significantly more stars (2.9) and is thus in the penultimate place.

It is closely followed by freenet TV with three out of five stars.

Mathias Rhode

, Chief Marketing Officer of Volders, comments on the results: “The terminations that we enforce for our users tell the first part of the story: They not only refer to developments in the market, but also allow conclusions to be drawn about the motivations of the consumers .

The customer reviews are the second part of the story that qualitatively complements the insight.

For example, the assessments on the Trustpilot portal confirm the results of the analysis and provide information about individual problems of the users.

The ratings in the App Store, on the other hand, indicate a more balanced picture and thus wonderfully complement the overall overview.

In this way, consumers, but also companies themselves, can acquire a comprehensive picture and act accordingly. "

about the investigation

: Contract manager Volders evaluated over 52,000 cancellations from TV streaming providers in 2020.

The music streaming providers Spotify and Deezer were therefore not included in the top ten, whereupon the providers Sky Ticket and Joyn were included in the top ten.

The deadline for evaluating the reviews on Trustpilot and the AppStore was February 16, 2021.

Disney + and Joyn had too few reviews on Trustpilot and were therefore not included in this analysis.

The reviews of the Google PlayStore were not included because four providers were not represented on this platform.
