The multinational fashion store Zara has done it again.
The home products division of the Iberian company has put some luffa sponges (better known in Mexico as scourers or grasses) for sale at 299 pesos (about 9.56 dollars or 11.85 euros, approximately).
This type of cleaning supplies can be found in the markets of Mexico for 15 pesos (less than a dollar or a euro) and in packages, you can buy up to three pieces, each one between 15 and 30 centimeters by about 10 circumference, for about 50 pesos (almost two euros).
The difference is 2,000% greater than the market value in traditional establishments in Mexico, which placed Zara Home as a trend in social networks since Tuesday night and continued to be so until Wednesday night
The difference between the people who sell it in markets, on the street and at Zara Home is the $$ price and the name:
Scourer / grass vs luffa body sponge
Let's support those who sell it and it is their only livelihood đ
What do you think?

Weeeey, I can't handle the Zara home scourers when there are people who sell the same thing for less and sometimes it's their only way to survive.

Very clever, first he shows a grass, gives it a sucking name and then sells it in his store at inflated prices ... Zara Home you are diabolical!

The $ 299 scourer from * Zara Home * is equivalent to the $ 14 thousand dollar headphones from * Apple *, they sell you the BRAND with products that you get at lower prices.

These natural sponges are the fruit of a plant of Egyptian origin that has been cultivated in Mexico for several centuries.
According to the National Biodiversity Commission (Conabio), their scientific name is Luffa aegyptiaca (hence the name Luffa sponge) and they are a species of climbing plant that is cultivated in the warm areas of Mexico and other Latin American countries.
"When fruits are not available, but only flowers, it can possibly be confused with Cucurbita (such as pumpkins or chilacayotes) and with Cucumis (such as cucumber and melons), points out the dependence.
This product is sold more expensively in the online store in Mexico than in the one in Spain.
According to the website of the company belonging to Inditex, the same sponge can be found for 7.99 euros (about 201.64 pesos approximately).
It is not the first time that the chain of Spanish origin has considerably increased the prices of traditional items.
Last year, the multinational put shopping bags on sale with a clear resemblance to the traditional grocery bags that are used in Mexico to go shopping in markets or tianguis.
"You cannot speak of plagiarism, but you can speak of a sale at very high prices of something traditional," says Magdiel Montalvo, director of the Manos Creativas Artisans and Producers Network.
