Esther Sedlaczek replaces Matthias Opdenhövel in the team of moderators for the »Sportschau«.
According to ARD, the 35-year-old sports journalist will start her new job at the new Bundesliga season.
In addition to moderating the "Sportschau" on Saturday and Sunday, Sedlaczek will also be used for live football broadcasts.
According to ARD, after ten years with the broadcaster, Opdenhövel did not extend his contract with the first, which ran until July.
The 50-year-old also works for other broadcasters and presents entertainment formats such as "The Masked Singer" on Pro Sieben.
Sedlaczek has been with Sky for around ten years.
She currently presents the Bundesliga on Saturday and is a reporter for the Champions League and Europa League.
For the ARD chairman Tom Buhrow, the move from Sedlaczek means that the “sports show” will be “more feminine”: “For the first time, we will have more female moderators than moderators on Saturday in the 6pm team,” it says in the message from the sender.
The "Sportschau" team also includes Jessy Wellmer and Alexander Bommes.
