An iron in the control panel, plastic cups as lamps, thousands of flashing light bulbs and a couple of designer chairs - the Orion's navigating bridge was ready.

The first German science fiction series is still delighting fans today, and not just because of the scenery, the crazy special effects are still amusing years after it was first broadcast over 50 years ago.

Now this series, which is actually called "Space Patrol - The Fantastic Adventures of the Orion Spaceship", is simply called "Orion Spaceship" or "Orion Spaceship" by its fans, is to be reissued.

A series is to be created together with the production company Uncharted Territory.

Bavaria Film confirmed this to DWDL.de.

Initially, the industry magazine »Variety« reported on it.

The title is now simply "Orion".

The crew of the "Orion" was responsible for monitoring space.

Wolfgang Völz played Lieutenant Mario de Monti, Dietmar Schönherr played Major Cliff Allister McLane, Eva Pflug played Lieutenant Tamara Jagellovsk, Ursula Lillig was Lieutenant Helga Legrelle and Friedrich G. Beckhaus was the astrogator Atan Shubashi.

In seven one-hour episodes, they flew through black and white space, landed on alien planets and fought aliens.

When the "Raumpatrouille" went on air in 1966, half of Germany was spellbound in front of the television.

Such a vision of the future was a premiere on German television.

The cult around the series was born through repetitions, at the latest when the parts were shown in the framework program of the Berlinale, in long film nights in cinemas and at universities.

So now a new edition.

“It was clear to us from the start that we wanted to stay away from parody or a comedic approach, because one fact was always very important to us: The creators of the original took it very seriously and embedded the series in the political and social climate of Europe in the sixties, «said film producer Volker Engel of» Variety «.

Engel and Mrs. Gesa Engel are responsible for the concept of the new edition.

In terms of content, the story should build on back then.

However, it is unlikely that the new series will be the episodes of the other episodes shot in color, suspected by fans in the Bavaria safes.
