Frérot and Delavega back solo: each their own album, but still so close

2021-03-05T13:43:23.144Z

Four years after the end of their musical duo, Jérémy Frérot and Flo Delavega are back, solo. Their two records come out a few days

They didn't provoke it, but they didn't prevent it either.

Four years after the separation of the Fréro Delavega, their phenomenon duo - a million albums sold and a million spectators in four years - Jérémy Frérot, 30 years old, and Flo Delavega, 33 years old, come out a few days apart from their solo album.

For the first, it is the second.

And for the second ... it's the first.

Their songs, their life and their friendship ... Review and confidences of the two artists.

Flo Delavega, very cool baba and "Rêveur Forêveur"

Sabers (Landes), June 22, 2020. The singer Flo Delavega lives with his family in an isolated place in the forest.

A smooth return.

After deciding to stop the Freros, the eldest of the duo took nearly three years before making music again.

He returned there with his folk guitar.

And that can be heard on her first album, which comes out this Friday, where she is omnipresent.

Fan of Manu Chao and Latin music, Flo Delavega sails in waters that resemble him, warm, soft, beneficial.

“I dug the furrow that I had started in the Fréro, with songs like“ Entre ciel et terre ”and“ Lumières de la ville ”, and amplified my reggae side with my friend Thierry De Cara, who produced the songs. Fréro records ”.

The colorful concept "Rêveur Forêveur" suits this very cool baba, who quotes the word dream in his eleven songs.

In a relationship with the Argentinian singer and musician Natalia Doco, with whom he shares a duet, two compositions and will go on tour, Flo Delavega launches in Spanish on two titles.

A welcome side step, like the epic “Rêveur Forêveur”, written with Ben Mazué, in a pleasant first solo essay, but a little monotonous.

A life between the Landes and Paris.

After the Fréro adventure, he needed to get away from Paris and the crowds.

With his darling, they settled four years ago in the Landes in an airial, an isolated place in the forest, where they have lived for three years with a little boy, Santi.

They built two wooden houses there, fitted out a garden and a vegetable patch in permaculture and an outdoor stage intended to host shows, as soon as the sanitary situation allows it.

But since last September, Flo Delavega has been going back and forth between his Landes retirement and Paris, where he finished his album in October and started his promotion.

“Jérémy helped me come back.

"

" We obviously listen to our songs.

I love his bold artistic twist.

He looks super fulfilled and that delights me.

When Jérémy asked me to join him at La Cigale and at the Musicalarue festival, I didn't think I would sing again, but the shared energy and pleasure helped me return to music.

We come back at the same time, but we don't step on each other.

Jérémy has already made his hole.

Me, I am in a bubble to build.

I will invite him in turn on stage.

It will be nice for everyone.

Our story is beautiful.

Jérémy Frérot, ready for a "Better life"

Boulogne Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), this Wednesday.

Calm down, Jérémy Frérot dares to write more sincere lyrics in his second album.

LP / Jean-Baptiste Quentin

Cap off.

We appreciated the turn taken by the younger brother of the Fréro on his first album, where he played his voice in machines and synthetic layers.

But where “Matriochka” was melancholy and a little cold, “Better life”, concocted with his friends Ben Mazué, Laurent Lamarca and Vincha, goes further, more organic, warm, varied, surprising.

Like his escapades between soul and funk, “Pareil”, “As long as the flowers remain”, “Le Pestacle” and “Je Te Veux”.

"My first album and my tour reassured me on the fact that I could be a solo artist and on the music that I wanted to make", confides Jérémy Frérot.

More confident and calm, he dares to write more sincere and direct.

In "A man" and "It overflows", he wonders about the father and the husband he is, talks about the success in "J'm'en sors bien", of transmission in "I have the sea" and "The Birth" ... The confinement paradoxically made him drop the mask.

Back to basics.

After four years in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), the singer and his wife, the former swimmer Laure Manaudou, moved a year and a half ago to the Arcachon basin (Gironde), from where he is native.

“I needed to go home,” he explains.

I have two children now, and I wanted to make them grow up in this environment, which has been a paradise for me.

It helped me to settle down, calm down.

And family confinement showed me that I wanted to live a better life, more turned towards others.

"He thus opened with his best friend in La Teste-de-Buch, near the dune of Pilat, a wine bar with a small stage," Le Pestacle ", which inspired a song.

In another, “Le Regain”, he sings: “I have what I want / I have what reminds me of where I come from / I say goodbye to everything that destroys me / I smile”.

“We support each other”.

“Flo's album is great, just like him.

He is enjoying himself.

I am happy that he has rediscovered the desire to make music.

And looking back, I'm happy that we were able to stop the group in time, at the top.

We call each other, we ask each other for advice, we support each other.

We didn't do it on purpose to release our albums so close together, it loses people a bit, but we're so connected that it's not so surprising, that's life.
