Representatives from universities are sounding the alarm: Students should also be able to participate more in face-to-face events again. This is especially important for exam candidates.

There are opening concepts for flower shops, zoos, museums and for schools.

But what about the universities?

After the gradual opening of the schools in the corona lockdown, university representatives are now calling for more classroom teaching for students.

The President of the University Rectors' Conference (HRK), Peter-André Alt, said on Friday in Berlin: "We have students who have been enrolled for two semesters and have never seen their university or fellow students in attendance." have the opportunity to continue their exam preparation in attendance.

Laboratory exercises would also have to take place in attendance again.

"Here test concepts can and must be carefully tried out and rapid tests used," said Alt.

The opening options for schools, which the federal and state governments have agreed, are not directly transferable to the universities.

"If more face-to-face teaching is possible again using test and vaccination strategies, these options should also be used," demanded HRK Vice President Oliver Günther.

University employees should also be able to use free quick tests, as is advised for company employees.
