Some 40,000 celebrations were canceled last year. As the season begins, and promises to be once again difficult, the

A “test marriage” bringing together around a hundred people in the spring in accordance with a very strict health protocol.

This is the project carried at arm's length by some 55,000 wedding-planners

(in French:

wedding planners

)

, DJs, caterers and other professionals in the wedding sector in France, represented by UPSE (union of professionals in solidarity with marriage and events).

“40,000 weddings have already been canceled in 2020. It shouldn't start again this year, when the wedding season traditionally starts in April and we start to organize evenings on television or test concerts with 5,000 people. !

»Defends Mélissa Humbert-Ferrand, wedding planner and spokesperson for UPSE.

His association has just sent this week to the Ministries of Health, Labor and Finance as well as to all deputies and senators a health protocol of about twenty pages - which we have consulted - detailing precisely the measures to be respect in the event of a resumption of weddings, by the artist-magician to the entertainers, including the DJs and of course… the guests!

The idea, welcomed by some elected officials and deputies, is gaining ground in any case.

A meeting on the subject should be held in the coming days between the Ministry of Health and professionals.

A maximum capacity of 6 people in town hall

"It is important to think about it in the respect of sanitary measures, supports Benjamin Dirx, deputy (LREM) of Saône-et-Loire.

Lately, we have heard a lot from the world of sport and culture, much less that of events.

It is now necessary to put this type of project on the table.

"

"The city of Lyon is providing moral and political support to this project," adds Camille Augey, assistant (EELV) for employment and the sustainable economy in Lyon.

We are also prepared to organize a civil test marriage in town hall, ”says the elected official.

As a reminder, currently, the maximum authorized guest tonnage is 6 people in town hall wedding halls.

In places of worship, the gauge plans for three months "to leave free two seats between each person and to occupy only one row out of two".

As for gatherings at home, nothing prevents inviting friends even if this is not recommended by the public authorities.

A new role for the DJ?

Concretely, what would this “test marriage” look like?

According to UPSE, it could bring together a hundred people, knowing "that the average number of people present at a wedding in France is today 110 people", indicates Mélissa Humbert-Ferrand.

The idea would be to impose the PCR test on all those invited within 72 hours before the event.

Once on site, everything was reviewed, from the guard of honor - with physical distancing - to dinner - served at the table - through the dance evening - with mask - or even, to the reminder of the sanitary measures chanted at the microphone by the DJ if necessary.

"If he realizes that on the dance floor, the guests are getting a little too close, after a certain time, nothing prevents the DJ from stopping the music to remind the rules", underlines Melissa Humbert-Ferrand.

Different places have even declared themselves in favor of hosting the event.

This is the case with the Château de Rajat, which has a 17-hectare park and four reception rooms about twenty kilometers from Lyon (Rhône-Alpes).

"We are ready to fit out our spaces to host this test," confirms Nadège Scotton, the commercial director.

And to add: “From a health point of view, it is better to organize your wedding in a castle, with large spaces rather than at home, in your basement or your garden as some do now.
